Title: Seeking UK-Compatible Yogurt Maker with Precise Temp Control (20–55°C)

I’m based in the UK and on the hunt for a yogurt maker that offers precise temperature control, ideally adjustable between 20°C to 55°C. My goal is to experiment with strains like L. reuteri and L. gasseri, which require lower fermentation temps (~36–38°C), and I’d love to avoid the guesswork of manual setups.

Key features I’m looking for:

  • UK voltage compatibility (230V)
  • Adjustable temperature range (not just preset modes)
  • Reliable for long fermentations (12–36 hours)
  • Bonus if it supports glass jars or has a transparent lid

Has anyone found a model that fits the bill? I’ve looked into the Luvele and Severin ranges but would love real-world feedback — especially on temperature accuracy and probiotic yield.

Have a look at the Lakeland, it’s c-2 setting allows a very wide range of temperatures and time.

I definitely recommend an Instant Pot with a sous vide setting (eg Instant Pot Duo Plus). On mine the temperature is accurate and consistent. It’s easy to put a thermometer into the water to test it, and you can adjust if necessary. I usually preheat the water before putting my glass pyrex bowl inside. The Pyrex 1.6 litre bowl with lid is a perfect shape as it’s quite tall (available on amazon). I use enough water to be level with the top of the milk. I put the bowl in the water on top of a support (I use the Instant Pot silicone pan support available on amazon) so that you get the water underneath the bowl. Make sure the lid of the Instant Pot is on the vented (not sealed) setting. I’ve tried the Luvele and the Instant Pot is way way better in every respect. The Luvele had terrible temperate accuracy, and the water is much too shallow. It’s also cheaply made with flimsy construction. Unlike many dedicated yogurt makers, the Instant Pot is a high quality durable item which also has many other uses. The Instant Pot Duo Plus has all the settings you need.
